About the Woodward 9907-205

The Woodward 9907-205 is the ST2000 hand-held programmer, a small terminal used to set up, adjust and monitor several Woodward digital controls. Woodward's manuals list it as the programmer for the 723 and 723PLUS digital speed controls, the 721 digital speed control and the MSLC master synchronizer and load control. It plugs into the control's 9-pin RS-422 service port, takes its power from the control and runs a self-test when connected. The four-line backlit display shows two menu items at a time, and the ID key shows the part number and software revision of the connected control.

What is the 9907-205 used for?

Engineers use it to commission and tune Woodward controls: entering set points and configuration, reading values and running diagnostics. On ships it is used with 723PLUS and 721 marine propulsion controls, 723 generator controls and MSLC synchronizers. Woodward also names it for replacing a ProAct Gen 1 speed control: if the original settings were not recorded, the programmer is used to read them from the old unit and key them into the new one, because there is no automated way to transfer them.
