Part Condition Grades
All parts are supplied new, factory sealed, apart from marine and offshore parts, whose condition is stated on each part page.
Two quotations for the same part number can describe different packaging, source and revision details. These are the terms used on a TimControls quotation.
New factory sealed
Unopened in the manufacturer's original packaging, with the factory seal intact.
- Has not been placed into service.
- The manufacturer's box has never been opened.
- Packed as the manufacturer ships it, with the hardware, accessories and documents it includes.
New factory opened
Manufacturer packaging that has been opened, typically for inspection or to verify a revision, but the unit is unused.
- Has not been placed into service.
- The box has been opened, so the factory seal is no longer intact.
- Supplied in the manufacturer's original packaging.
New surplus sealed
Unused stock that has passed through the supply chain rather than direct from the maker, still sealed in its original packaging.
- Has not been placed into service.
- Sealed in the original packaging, which may show shelf wear or markings.
- May carry an older date code or product series than current factory stock.
- Country of origin and packaging language may vary.
New surplus open
Unused surplus stock in original packaging that has been opened.
- Has not been placed into service; it may have been powered on for testing.
- Original packaging, opened, which may show shelf wear or markings.
- Instructions may not be included.
- May carry an older date code or product series than current factory stock.
New without box
Unused, but supplied without the manufacturer's packaging.
- Has not been placed into service; it may have been powered on for testing.
- Packed for transit in packaging that is not the manufacturer's.
- May be missing hardware, accessories or instructions that come with a boxed unit.
- May carry an older date code or product series than current factory stock.
How condition is confirmed
Industrial parts are supplied new, factory sealed. Marine and offshore parts may be new, used or refurbished; the part page and the quotation say which.
Condition is stated on the quotation. If you require a specific condition, say so on the RFQ and we will confirm whether it can be met.
Warranty
Every part comes with a written warranty. The period depends on the part and its condition, and is stated on your quote before you order.
Each part must match the description and condition on your quote when it is delivered. A valid claim is repaired, replaced or refunded. Faults caused by storage, transport, installation, wiring, misuse, unauthorised repair or ordinary wear are not covered.
Testing
Parts can be tested by an independent third-party lab before shipping. The test depends on the part, from visual inspection to a functional test. Test reports are available prior to shipping.
Claims and returns
Check the parts when they arrive and tell us in writing about damage, shortages or wrong parts within five business days. Report later faults promptly, within the warranty period.
Email sales@timcontrols.com with the order, the serial numbers, a description and photos. Wait for our written return authorisation before sending anything back. For a valid claim we pay reasonable return and replacement shipping.
