About the DEIF AGC-4

The DEIF AGC-4 is an automatic genset controller from DEIF's Multi-line 2 range. One unit handles a generator's protection, synchronising and breaker control, and several AGC-4 controllers can be linked into a complete power management system for island operation or operation parallel with the grid, including split and ring busbars. It measures three-phase voltage and current directly (100 to 690 V AC, 1 A or 5 A CTs) and drives the governor and AVR through analogue outputs, relays or a J1939 CAN link. DEIF states that the AGC-4 is being phased out and replaced by the AGC-4 Mk II; spare part units can still be delivered.

What is the AGC-4 used for?

On ships the AGC-4 is used in generator switchboards to start, stop, synchronise and load-share diesel generators, and to control bus tie and shore connection breakers. A replacement has to match the controller type (DG, Mains, BTB, Group or Plant), the option set and the software version of the unit being replaced, because the power management system is configured across all controllers in the plant.
