Overview
Advantech builds three kinds of embedded board. A SOM module carries the processor and chipset and plugs into a carrier board through the COM Express connector, so the equipment's own I/O stays on the carrier. An AIMB board is a complete industrial motherboard in a standard form factor such as Mini-ITX. A PCM board is a single-board computer in a small format such as 3.5-inch, with the I/O on headers. Each model comes in several order numbers that differ in processor and options, so the full order number on the board label decides the replacement.
