About the Allen-Bradley 1746-NR4

The 1746-NR4 is an SLC 4 point resistance input module, discontinued on 12/30/2015. It has 4 inputs and draws 50 mA at 5 V from the backplane (selection guide 1747-SG001). Inputs have no channel-to-channel isolation, 500V AC for 1 minute input to backplane isolation and common mode separation of ±1V maximum. Sensor ranges are -200 to 850 °C for platinum, -100 to 260 °C for nickel and -100 to 200 °C for nickel/iron; copper is not allowed.

What is the 1746-NR4 used for?

It reads four resistance temperature sensors into an SLC 500 system. Temperature scale (1 °C or 1 °F, and 0.1 °C or 0.1 °F), filter frequency and data format are selectable. Data formats are Raw/Proportional, Engineering Units, Engineering Units x 10 and Scaled-for-PID, and open or short circuit detection can be set to zero, upscale or downscale.
