Siemens SIMATIC DP bus connectors, order numbers 6ES7972-0B…: the 9-pin sub-D plugs that connect each PROFIBUS DP station to the RS 485 bus cable.
Overview
Every station on a PROFIBUS DP network connects to the bus cable through a bus connector on its 9-pin sub-D port. Siemens's SIMATIC DP range comes in versions that differ in four ways: screw terminals or FastConnect insulation-displacement terminals, a 90° or 35° cable outlet, with or without a programming (PG) socket on the back, and the housing size. All of them carry an integrated terminating resistor, switched on by a slide switch at the first and last station of a segment. Siemens has replaced several earlier versions. Its SiePortal pages mark 6ES7972-0BA11, 0BB11, 0BA41, 0BB41, 0BA50, 0BB50 and 0BA60 as discontinued and name the successor for each, listed below. A successor is not always the same size: SiePortal gives the 0BA11 as 54 mm high and its successor 0BA12 as 64 mm, so check the space around the port before swapping.
