Schneider Electric Preventa XPS safety relays

Overview

Preventa is Schneider Electric's range of safety relays, sold for years under the Telemecanique name. Each XPS module does one job: the XPSBA and XPSBC monitor two-hand control stations, the XPSDA monitors a lift, and the XPSECP adds safety contacts to a module base. Schneider's pages give the safety level each can reach, from PL c/category 1 on the XPSBA to PL e/category 4 on the XPSBC, XPSDA and XPSECP. A safety relay is part of the machine's safety case, so a different module needs the safety function rechecked. Schneider lists the older modules as discontinued and names XPSU references as replacements for some. TimControls quotes Preventa modules against the reference on the unit.
