About the Danfoss VLT 5072 380-500 V

The Danfoss VLT 5072 is a 90 kW frequency converter from the VLT 5000 series for 3 x 380-500 V supplies. Danfoss's VLT 5000 design guide gives it an output current of 147 A at normal overload (110 %), with separate ratings for high overload (160 %); the full electrical data from the design guide is listed below. Danfoss's product page states that the VLT 5000 has reached the Inactive phase of its lifecycle, meaning it is discontinued and no longer in production, and names iC7-Automation as its successor.

What is the VLT 5072 380-500 V used for?

It controls the speed of a three-phase AC motor on pumps, fans, compressors, conveyors and process machinery. A failed unit stops the motor it drives.
