About the Kongsberg 8100114

The Kongsberg 8100114 is the LCD version of the Watch Bridge Unit (WBU/LCD). Mounted on the bridge, it shows engine room alarms on a 4-line text display, with pages for the alarm summary, selected points and date and time, and jumps to the alarm summary when a new alarm arrives. Like the LED version it lets the bridge accept or hand back the machinery watch and call the engineer on duty, and it communicates with the alarm system's main computer unit over the CAN network.

What is the 8100114 used for?

Kongsberg describes the WBU as a unit required to run an unmanned engine room: it is how engine room alarms reach the bridge while the machinery is unattended. It is flush-mounted in the bridge console and works together with the Watch Cabin Units (WCU) in the engineers' cabins and public rooms.
