About the Kongsberg 8100141

The Kongsberg 8100141 is the LED version of the Watch Cabin Unit (WCU/LED) used with the DataChief alarm and monitoring system. Fitted in the engineers' cabins and in public rooms, it indicates engine room alarms with lamps and a buzzer while the machinery watch is on the bridge, shows which engineer is on duty and signals calls from the bridge or the engine room. It communicates with the alarm system's main computer unit over the CAN network.

What is the 8100141 used for?

Kongsberg describes the WCU as a unit required to run an unmanned engine room: it is how the engineer on duty is alerted away from the engine control room. Each cabin or public space in the watch-calling system has its own unit, working together with the Watch Bridge Unit (WBU) on the bridge.
