About the Kongsberg 8100131

The Kongsberg 8100131 is the LED version of the Watch Bridge Unit (WBU/LED) used with the DataChief alarm and monitoring system. Mounted on the bridge, it shows engine room alarms in 16 alarm groups, lets the bridge accept or hand back responsibility for the machinery watch, and calls the engineer on duty in their cabin. It communicates with the alarm system's main computer unit (MCU) over the CAN network; a redundant arrangement with automatic changeover to a second MCU can be fitted.

What is the 8100131 used for?

Kongsberg describes the WBU as a unit required to run an unmanned engine room: it is how engine room alarms reach the bridge while the machinery is unattended. It is flush-mounted in the bridge console and works together with the Watch Cabin Units (WCU) in the engineers' cabins and public rooms.
