About the Kongsberg 8100138

The Kongsberg 8100138 is the LCD version of the Watch Cabin Unit (WCU/LCD). Fitted in the engineer on duty's cabin and in public rooms, it indicates engine room alarms on a 4-line text display with group lamps and a buzzer while the machinery watch is on the bridge, and shows which engineer is on duty. It communicates with the alarm system's main computer unit over the CAN network.

What is the 8100138 used for?

Kongsberg describes the WCU as a unit required to run an unmanned engine room: it is how the engineer on duty is alerted away from the engine control room. Each cabin or public space in the watch-calling system has its own unit, working together with the Watch Bridge Unit (WBU) on the bridge.
