About the DEIF GPU-2

The DEIF GPU (GPU-2) is a generator protection unit from DEIF's Multi-line 2 range: a compact unit with all the functions needed to protect a synchronous or asynchronous generator, with galvanically separated three-phase measuring. A separate display, mounted on the unit or in the switchboard door, shows measured values, alarms and a 150-event log. DEIF lists approvals from ABS, BV, DNV, GL, LR, RINA and RS and intends the unit for land-based and marine applications.

What is the GPU-2 used for?

On ships the GPU-2 protects each generator in the switchboard, tripping the generator breaker on faults such as reverse power or overcurrent. Replacing it like for like keeps the existing set points and wiring.
