About the DEIF PPM-3

The DEIF PPM-3 is a protection and power management controller from DEIF's Multi-line 2 range, designed for marine applications. Each unit protects and controls one power source or breaker: a diesel generator, shaft generator, shore connection or bus tie breaker, and together they run the ship's power management, starting and stopping generators on power demand, with split busbars, ring bus connection and emergency generator control. DEIF states that the PPM-3 is being phased out and replaced by the iE 350 Marine.

What is the PPM-3 used for?

The PPM-3 sits in the main switchboard, one per generator or breaker. Because the power management system is configured across all the PPM-3 units on board, a failed unit is normally replaced with the same type and options so the rest of the system is unchanged.
