About the Siemens 6ES7360-3AA01-0AA0

The Siemens 6ES7360-3AA01-0AA0 is the IM 360, the central-rack half of the S7-300 multi-rack link: it pairs with an IM 361 in each of up to 3 expansion racks, connected by the 6ES7368-3 cables. Unlike the IM 365, which links one expansion rack without the communication bus, the IM 360 carries the C-bus. Siemens's data sheet marks it as a spare part. Siemens's S7-300 Module data manual adds that the IM 360 sits in rack 0, takes up to 10 m of 368 cable to the next interface module, and has one LED, SF, which lights if the cable is missing or the IM 361 is switched off.

It extends an S7-300 system beyond one rack: the IM 360 in the central rack connects to IM 361 modules in up to three expansion racks.
