About the Deep Sea Electronics DSE5520

The DSE5520 is DSE's automatic mains failure control module with load share functions for diesel and gas generating sets. DSE says it monitors the mains (utility) supply and, on loss of power, automatically starts the generating set; its synchronising functions include automatic synchronising with a built-in synchroscope and closing onto a dead bus. DSE's data sheet adds a mains sensing input of 15 V (L-N) to 333 V AC (L-N) and separate generator and mains loading relay outputs, each 8 A AC 250 V. Deep Sea Electronics lists the DSE5520 as obsolete and names the DSE8620 MKII as its replacement.

What is the DSE5520 used for?

The DSE5520 runs a generating set that backs up the mains (utility) supply: it starts the set on mains failure, synchronises it and controls the generator and mains loading relays. It drives the governor and AVR through its isolated outputs.
